🚪 Getting started with AperoRoom
Is it free to start?
Yes, totally free to sign up: you get 20 free ice cubes (our in-app currency). No credit card required, no commitment, no subscription. You only pay if you want to top up your balance. See packs →
How do I sign up?
30 seconds: email + password or Google login in 1 click. You pick your nickname, bio, profile theme. Your public profile becomes your "public tab" that you can share with a link or QR code.
Do my friends need to sign up to join me?
No! Your guests can join in guest mode with just their first name. They can watch, chat and see the draw live. To propose videos, though, an account is needed (free 30s signup).
🧊 Ice cubes (our currency)
What are ice cubes?
Our in-app currency. You use ice cubes to open a room (5-8 ice cubes per capacity) or propose a video in a room (1 ice cube per proposal). Without ice cubes, you can still join a room and watch, but not propose.
How much do packs cost?
Starting at $4.99 for 50 ice cubes, up to $34.99 for 1200 ice cubes (with bonus). The popular pack "The Open Bar" is $9.99 for 220 ice cubes. No subscription, you pay per order. See all packs →
How do I pay?
Via Stripe (Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). Your ice cubes are credited instantly on payment confirmation. Your card is never stored on our side — Stripe handles it.
Do ice cubes expire?
No, never. Your ice cubes stay in your account as long as it's active. Use them whenever you want, at your own pace.
🎵 Rooms & proposals
What exactly is the random draw?
Not a vote, a REAL random draw. Every X minutes (based on the current video's length), a random draw picks from all guest proposals. The winning video plays on the TV/screen synchronized for everyone. That's what makes the party surprising: you can propose a niche song, it has the same chances as a hit.
What if a song is too long?
You can skip a dragging video (costs ice cubes per the room's policy). The random draw also triggers automatically X minutes before the end of the current video to avoid silences.
Maximum room capacity?
You pick at creation: 5 to 100 simultaneous guests. The larger the capacity, the more ice cubes it costs to open a room (servers work harder 😉).
How does "TV connection" work?
From the mobile remote, you can display the player on any TV via the "TV Connection" button (room creator only). Compatible with Chromecast, Google TV, Apple TV and direct browser.
🔒 Tech & security
What devices does it work on?
Everywhere: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, on desktop, tablet, smartphone. The mobile remote works on iPhone and Android without installing an app. You can also cast to Chromecast / Google TV from mobile.
What about YouTube rights?
100% legal: we use the official YouTube player which handles synchronization across multiple viewers. You enjoy videos as if watching on YouTube.com, with ads and standard YouTube monetization rules.
Is my data secure?
Yes: HTTPS everywhere, passwords hashed (bcrypt), no payment data stored on our side (Stripe handles it). Google OAuth login for those who prefer. See legal notices →
Can I delete my account?
Yes, any time from your profile. All your data is permanently erased (rooms, messages, remaining ice cubes). Per GDPR, you can also request a data export.
